In the late 70s the US army wanted a new kind of vehicle to replace the aging jeeps that had been in service since the Second World War. The result was not a pink hummer limousine but a vehicle named HMMWV, or humvee as the soldiers started calling it. The humvee was a strong, fast and extremely agile military vehicle that showed great potential as command vehicles, troop transports and even carriers of heavy weapon systems.
